Through the work of accommodating lesson plans for ELLs I was more effectively able to create lessons which targeted specific skills to develop in students of all abilities. This class focused on interaction and understanding of second language acquisition and development, as well as specific strategies used to enhance particular skills such as reading, writing and vocabulary building. The class focused also on diversity and current ideas about race, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation. The atmosphere was very open and allowed for lengthy and informed discussion on a wide range of issues which dealt with ELLs, language and equity. The lesson plans below show some of my work in accommodating lessons for ELLs, as well as some of the strategies which were discussed.
